The first rule is the label: if a piece says dry clean only, follow it. Beyond that, how a print is cared for depends mostly on the fabric.
Printed silk
- Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent made for delicate fabrics. Hot water can damage the colour and shrink the fabric.
- Keep the soak short.
- Do not wring. Press the water out in a towel.
- Dry flat, away from direct sun and heat. Never tumble dry.
Sublimation-printed polyester
In sublimation the dye is inside the polyester fibre rather than on its surface, so the print does not crack or peel with washing. Follow the garment’s label for temperature.
For brands and buyers
Put clear care instructions on the label for each fabric and print process. Ask us which process we used for your fabric and we will advise on the care wording.
